Andrew Harlan Granfor, 89, of Rural Perley, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at St. Catherine’s, South, Fargo, ND.
Andrew was born on March 6, 1934, to Julius and Viola (Elseth) Granfor, in Fargo, ND. He grew up and attended school in Perley, MN, thru grad 8. He then graduated from High School in Borup, MN, in 1952. He volunteered for the draft and entered the army in 1954. He served in Germany as a Classified Courier and traveled extensively in Europe. He entered Concordia College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1963.
Andrew began working as photo chief at KXJB-TV to a job he help for 41 years. He joined the North Dakota Air National Guard and retired from that in 1994.
Andrew visited all 50 states, the Azores, and Guam. He served as Master of the Moorhead Masonic Lodge. He joined Eczagel Shrine and was Director of the Escort Patrol and Secretary of the Uniformed Units Council. He had also belonged to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Elks, and Eagles.
Andrew filmed all the football and basketball home and away games for the NDSU Bison for 19 years. He also photographed nearly 1,000 weddings and shot over 27,000 TV commercials. He put over 235,000 miles on 8 different Harley’s. His most memorable ride was to Mexico from Tijuana, up the California Coast highway to Seattle. He also had a hobby of fixing really wrecked cars. Many times, he cut two cars in half then welded them together to make one good care which he would sometimes drive for years.
Andrew is survived by his 3 sons, Mike Granfor, Perley, MN, Mark Granfor, Perley, MN, and Steve Granfor, Moorhead, MN, and one daughter, Stacy, Las Vegas, NV.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Burial will be at Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery, rural Perley, MN, following the service.
