Anthony J.P. Martinez

Anthony James Paul Martinez, 32, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2025, in his home.

Anthony was born August 28, 1993, in Fargo, North Dakota. He graduated from Fargo South High School in 2011. Continuing his education, he attended NDSU where he graduated cum laude with a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation, he found a job at MBN Engineering where he moved up steadily over many years at the company. He was very proud of his accomplishments as a mechanical designer.

Anthony enjoyed fishing, hunting, disc golf, and traveling, with recent trips to Europe and NYC. His brother Andrew introduced him to motorcycling and the two brothers enjoyed bonding time on the road. He was an avid Bison and Chiefs fan and cheered extra loud in honor of his friend Evan Adkins (though he caught some jokes from friends when he declared that this year he was going back to being a Vikings fan). He had a joyful, easygoing spirit, and enjoyed what life had to offer. His “I love yous" flowed freely and he would drop anything to help a friend. That kindness also extended to strangers - it was not uncommon to see him pay for a stranger in line.

He found love with Heather Aanderud to whom he got engaged in September. He approached his role with Heather's daughter, Svea with child-like enthusiasm, doting on her with messy candies or antics like an indoor water fight. He was also devoted to his dogs Lilly and Wentz who had a special place in his heart. Anthony looked out for his loved ones and that was seen in his relationship with his nieces and nephews. He loved them deeply and wanted to provide the best for them.

Anthony is survived by his father, James Martinez; fiancée, Heather Aanderud and her daughter, Svea; siblings, Cameron (Lucas) Cooper, Noreen (Tim) Welch, Kajsa (Nathan) Lund, Jacob Gable, Julia Bakken, and Amelia (Mark) Indvik; nieces and nephews, Ogden, Olin, Osborn, Heaven, and Maleighna Martinez, Austin, Dylan, and Landyn Welch, Ayden Gable, Aubree Kukowski, Ayrissa Lund, Landon Lund, and Zoe Gable; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends that he considered family.

Anthony was preceded in death by his brother Andrew; grandparents Tony Martinez Sr. and Rosa Martinez; his uncle Rick Martinez; and his dear friend Evan Adkins.

Our family was not expecting to lose Anthony so soon, and he will be deeply missed. He will live on through our stories of his life and the laughter he still inspires in us.
