Arthur J. “A.J.” Andersen Iii

Arthur J. Andersen, III, 55, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Elim Pioneer Assisted Living, Fargo, ND.

Arthur John, “A. J.”, was born in St. Louis Park, MN, on April 7, 1966, to James and LaValle (Winden) Andersen. He grew up in Plymouth, MN, until the age of 8 when he moved with his family to Ulen, MN. He graduated from Ulen-Hitterdal High School in 1984. From there he attended Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1988. For the next year he attended William Mitchell School of Law in St. Paul, MN.

A.J. worked at Northwestern Bank in Dilworth and later took a job at U S Bank in their credit card division. He also worked as a travel agent with Orbitz for several years.  Because he enjoyed conversations with a wide variety of people, he became an Uber driver and met some famous people.

During his lifetime A.J. pursued many interests. He loved music, sang in choirs, and played the trumpet in bands including the Concordia College Pep Band.  He was also called upon to play taps at military services.

A.J. participated in musicals and plays. He pursued model rocketing and loved doing fireworks.  Another interest was speaking which led him to participate in Toastmasters for a time.  The Gideons were another group he joined.  He was a voracious reader and an expert on many topics.

Lake life, especially boating, was a favorite with him. He loved being with his family, and they loved being with him. His most favorite pursuit was golf. He also enjoyed going to the Casino with his grandmother, Fern. She always brought him luck.

A.J. had a kind and gentle soul and an amazing intellect. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. God bless our memories of him.

He is survived by his parents, James and LaValle Andersen; sister, Elizabeth Andersen-Kirch; grandmother, Fern Andersen; nieces and nephews, Isabella, James and Alexander Kirch.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arthur Andersen Jr., grandfather, Peder J. Winden, and grandmother, Alpha Melbye Winden.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 1-2 PM followed by the memorial service at 2:00 PM at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. A livestream of the service will be available here on A.J.’s webpage beginning at 2:00 PM.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ulen, MN.
