Betty A. Johnson

Betty A. Johnson was born to Oscar and Lena Handegard in Lake Park, MN on August 20, 1930. She attended school in Lake Park, MN. She married Julian Johnson on October 15, 1949. They celebrated 70 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Pam and Randy. She worked at the Hawley Manor, Concordia College, and helped with her husband’s construction business. She and Julian enjoyed travelling and camping. Betty loved her church and was active in all areas. The church was a huge part of Betty’s life. She loved her Bible Study group. She was the first to help people in need through volunteering, prayers, visits, and food preparation. Her faith was always “in motion.” She was happiest when spending time with her family, friends, and church. Betty moved to Glyndon in 2019.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Betty is survived by her son, Randy (Vicky) Johnson; and son-in-law, Tim Kronbeck. Her daughter, Pam passed away May 4, 2020, from chronic health conditions. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jamie (Amy) Kronbeck, Melissa (Cory) Keith, Mackenzie Johnson, Alex (Jocelyn) Johnson, Kelsey (Kyle) Haspel and Josh Johnson; great-grandchildren, Anna, lan, Claire, Elena, Craig, Mya and Maci; sister, Margy Luthi; sister-in-law, Harriet Johnson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ken and Marlys Christianson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julian (July 22, 2020); parents, Oscar and Lena; and ten siblings, Kenneth, Idean, Beatrice, Arnt, Ed, Grace, Dorrie, Raymond, Gust, and Orville.

Betty died at Sanford Hospital on July 27, 2022.

Visitation will be Friday, August 5, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, August 6, at 11:00 a.m., in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.

Interment will follow the service at Hawley Cemetery.
