Betty C. Bjerke passed away November 29, 2021, at Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, ND, two months shy of her 100th birthday.
Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Betty Clinton Bjerke was born in St. Vincent, MN to Vera and Montague Clinton. She graduated from St. Vincent High School and attended Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Betty married Conn M. Bjerke in St. Vincent in 1941. During World War II, she worked for Lockhead and Boeing Aircraft Companies in Long Beach, CA and Tri Clover in Kenosha, WI.
After the war, Betty and Conn moved to Ulen, MN where Conn went into the business with his brother for 16 years. Their two children were born in Ulen. In 1962 they moved to Moorhead, MN where Conn was Clay County Treasurer and Administrator. During this time, Betty worked part-time at the Clay County Court House. She was a long -time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and an active volunteer. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. with her husband and friends. Later when Conn became incapacitated she was his special care giver until his death in 2000. Betty’s family and friends were a very important part of her life. She was loving and generous.
Betty was preceded in death by husband Conn and son, Craig. She is survived by daughter Cheryl, son-in-law Joel, Woodbury, MN; daughter-in-law Barb Bjerke, Bemidji, MN; two grandchildren, Robyn (Mike) Belongie, Eden Prairie, MN and Ed Boche, Oulu, Finland; six great grandchildren, Hannah, Emmett, Maggie, Dean, Alex and Alice. Also a nephew, David Clinton, wife Diane Clinton and niece Kathy Bjerke.
A service will be held at the columbarium of Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead, MN on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 11:30 A.M.
