Betty Arlene (Hamann) Peterson, 97, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN.

Betty was born September 27, 1928, to Harry and Elsa (Freadrich) Hamann in New Ulm, MN. She grew up and attended school in New Ulm, graduating from high school in 1946.

Betty worked in Minneapolis, MN from 1947 to 1950 where she met her husband to be, Glenn Peterson. They were married on September 10, 1950, in New Ulm. They later moved to Fergus Falls, MN when Glenn took a position with Lampert Lumber Company. They moved to a few other places before settling in Moorhead in 1964.

Betty and Glenn joined Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in the fall of 1964 and were active with volunteering when there was a need. Betty worked for Concordia Food Service for 20 years.

Betty loved everything to do with the outdoors. She enjoyed hiking, working with flowers, and even shoveling snow. Betty always was willing to support the things in life that were important to her, especially her family.

Betty is survived by her sons, David (Rena), Douglas (Janice), and Daryl; daughters, Debra (Colleen Greer), and Darlene (Jesse) Knapp; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shyla Peterson, Mildred Hamann, and Lola Dewey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Donna Mae, four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN. Burial will be in Audubon Lutheran Cemetery, Audubon, MN, at a later date in the spring.
