Blake Orville Guffey of Dilworth MN, passed away unexpectedly on September 14, 2022.
He was only 51 years old. Our family is devastated and shocked by this loss. Blake was born on February 15, 1971 in Devils Lake ND to parents Jerry O. Guffey and Gloria J. Guffey (Johnson).
He spent a large part of his youth and adult life in Montrose CO where he had many friends. When he was young, he enjoyed riding horses; he loved animals. His most recent house mate was an orange tabby named Orville.
Blake worked in different jobs, enjoying the variety of life and the thrill of learning new trades. By the time he moved to Minnesota from Colorado he was a skilled machinist.
The last five years he worked for Professional Transportation Inc. (PTI) of BNSF. He enjoyed driving BNSF rail crews at all hours of the night during any weather. He was known for keeping an exceptionally clean van for his passengers, “They deserve it”. He was dependable and available to help in many circumstances at PTI. His work family appreciated his humor, loyalty and attention.
Blake’s hobbies included photography, wood burning, rebar bending/welding and partying (and not necessarily in that particular order).
Blake was preceded in death by his grandfather Gordon Johnson, grandmother Eileen Johnson, grandfather Orville Guffey, grandmother Alma Guffey, father Jerry Guffey, mother Gloria Johnson, sister Roxanne Guffey, nephew Joshuah Nelson, great-nephew Evan Roley and other beloved family members and friends. Blake is survived by sisters Jenenne Guffey (Moorhead MN) and Valerie Guffey (Monroe LA); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He will be deeply missed by many.
Our family would like to thank family and friends for their support in this difficult time.
Please join us to celebrate Blake’s life at an open house gathering from 10am to 4pm on October 7, 2022 at the Whistle Stop Park, 103 4th St NE, Dilworth MN 56529
