Bonnie Mae (Thompson) Holm, 85, of Hawley, MN, formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN.
Bonnie was born on November 18, 1938, to Ted and Julia (Nelson) Thompson at home in Pelican Rapids, MN. Her family moved to a farm south of Hawley, MN, where she grew up. She attended country school near Hawley until the 8th grade and then attended and graduated from Hawley High School. She began working at American Linen after her graduation while living at her home in Hawley. She was united in marriage to Gerald Lee, and they moved to the Fargo Moorhead area. After a few years, they moved to Minneapolis, St. Paul, MN, briefly before moving back to Fargo Moorhead.
Bonnie moved back to the Hawley area after Gerald passed away at a young age where she raised her three children. She was united in marriage to Elmo Holm, and they lived in Hawley, MN, for a few years before moving east of Detroit Lakes, MN. She retired from American Linen and worked at Evan’s Grocery. After Elmo passed away, she moved into Detroit Lakes, MN, working at the Dollar Store. Recently, Bonnie moved back to Hawley, MN, where she has lived ever since.
Bonnie enjoyed reading her murder mysteries and going out to coffee with her friends.
Bonnie is survived by her two sons, David Lee and Dan Lee; grandchildren, Shenna Lee, Mason Gadd, and Michelle Lee; one great grandchild; siblings, Jean Doty and Lee (Val) Thompson; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Holm; first husband, Gerald Lee; daughter, Diane Lee; parents, Ted and Julia; and her brothers, Orland, Jerome, and Roger.
A private family graveside service will be held.
