Bruce R. Wagner

Bruce Ronald Wagner was born on July 3, 1962, the sixth child in the Ron and Ida Wagner family.  He passed away at St Mary Hospital, Duluth, on January 12, 2021.

He grew up in the Hitterdal area, attended Highland Grove Lutheran Church, and graduated from Ulen-Hitterdal High School.  A quiet and somewhat private person, Bruce was always willing to lend a hand when asked.  He was sensitive to the needs of others and when asked how he was doing would just say, “I’m doing OK, oh I’m doing OK”.

As a kid on the farm Bruce wore out more than one bike riding so many miles, and he loved to go for long walks.  He was an avid listener of Casey Kasem’s weekly top 40 countdown, and he looked forward to visiting Big Cormorant Lake, sitting out on the boat house deck overlooking the beautiful lake.  Other favorites included Dairy Queen ice cream cakes, being around friends, and getting calls, letters or visits from family.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Wagner, and his mother Ida (Wagner) Busby, step-father Charles Lewis and step-father Loyal Busby.  He is survived by a sister, Sandy (Kyle) Giffey Garrison, ND; sister Deb Wagner West Hills, CA: brother Ross (Lynnette) Wagner Brainerd, MN; brother Reed Wagner & Kim Cooke Bloomington, MN; and brother Steve (Sherry) Wagner Hancock, MN; as well as many step-brothers and step-sisters, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express appreciation to staff and management of Colonial Homes in Brookston, MN, who offered Bruce friendship and care for many years.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Highland Grove Cemetery Fund c/o Ardith Peterson 26193 73^rd Ave N, Hitterdal, MN 56552.

A private family service will be held, and a livestream will be available here on Bruce’s page beginning at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 18, 2021.
