Bryan James Sheldon, 50, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in VA Hospital, Fargo, ND, after a hard-fought battle with esophageal cancer.
Bryan was born on October 18, 1970, in Adrian, MI, to James “Mike” and Deb (Hatt) Sheldon. They moved from Michigan to Sabin, MN, where Bryan attended and graduated from Moorhead High School. He attended Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN, for one year before joining the military in 1990. Bryan served in the U.S. Army for two years of active duty during the Gulf War. Upon his return, he joined the National Guard in Fargo, ND. He went to flight school in Alabama where he earned his Wings and became a Ward Officer. He was then stationed with the flight unit in Bismarck, ND, partaking in several deployment missions. Overall, he totaled 22 years of military service. During his military career, he attended classes at NDSU through what he called the “10-year plan”, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. In 2015, he joined Space Age Synthetics where he worked as a Production Supervisor.
Bryan played softball and football in High School. Together with his football team, they became state champs in 1987 and continued his football career in Thief River Falls. He continued playing slow pitch softball throughout the years, enjoyed golfing, and was a huge NDSU Bison fan. He loved putting food on the table for family and friends during get-together events. He especially enjoying smoking his foods and loved to cook bacon. He had a great sense of humor and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends by whom he will be sorely missed.
Byran is survived by his parents, Deb Hatt and Mike (Janice) Sheldon; siblings, Kristi (Frank Larson) Schroeder and Scott (Kylie Cook) Sheldon; step-siblings, Debbie, Cathy, Susan, and Paula; nieces and nephews, Natasha, Skylar, and Chase Schroeder, and Maiah Sheldon; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and step-brother, Randy Cyr.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fargo National Cemetery, Fargo, ND, following the service.
