Camilla Drake, age 90, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN.Camilla was born on January 7, 1920 in Pickardville, ND to Daniel and Della Chote Drake, the 9th of 10 children. She grew up in Velva, ND and graduated from Velva High School in 1938.Camilla worked for a time at the ND State Capital in the Department of Vital Statistics. She then moved to Los Angeles and attended Los Angeles Bible Institute to prepare herself for mission work. She spent 10 years at the Maranata Children's Home in Fairbanks, Alaska. The time working with those children was a true highlight of her life. She then spent a few years at the Navajo Indian School in Arizona. In 1970, she graduated from Seattle Pacific College then taught elementary school in Bothell, Washington for 12 years and retired in 1982.Camilla had a great love for books and after retirement developed a church library for her church in Bothell, WA. In 1986 she moved to Illinois to live with her sister, Frances Fredrickson. She has always loved life, loved God, doing God's work, loved children and having fun.In 2003 she and her sister moved to Hawley to be near her niece, Stephana Berg. She first lived in an apartment then was at the Hawley Manor for 3 1/2 years and the last year at Sunnyside Care Center.She will be missed by many.Camilla was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Della Drake; four brothers, Robert, William, Walter and Charles; four sisters, Dorothy, Ioleen Carrie and Edith.She is survived by one sister, Frances Fredrickson of Hawley and many nieces and nephews.
