Carl Kooren Jr.

Carl was the son of Carl Kooren, Sr. and Elizabeth Metz Kooren. He was born in South Heart, North Dakota in 1932. He lived and went to school in South Heart until he joined the Army where he spent the majority of those 12 years in France. He retired from the Army as a Staff Sergeant at which time he made his home in Barbezieux, France. He ran a trucking firm there for many years. He returned to the United States in October 2002, settling in Hawley, MN. where he resided at the Northside Terrace. Carl enjoyed working in his garden, playing pinochle and other games and laughing, joking, and teasing. He was also quick to help others when it was needed. Carl is survived by his daughter, Nadine, Fargo, ND; grandsons, Emmanuel and Mickael; a sister, Irene Desmond, Dickinson, ND; brothers, Henry Ramona, Hawley, MN, Raymond, Missoula, MT. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and his special friend, Lorraine Grefsrud.
