Obituary

Carol Jean Fike, age 80, of Moorhead, MN (formerly of Duluth, MN), passed away on November 1, 2025. Carol was born on January 24, 1945, to Clarence and Shirley (Carlson) Warner and was the second of four children. Carol attended Duluth Denfeld High School until one day in her senior year, she entered through the north entrance, walked through the school, and exited through the south doors to meet Duane, the love of her life, in the parking lot. Together, they drove to Sisseton, SD, where they were married on October 19, 1962, and shared 62½ wonderful years together until Duane passed away on June 2, 2025.

By the time Duane received his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1966, they had welcomed two children, Ron and Gail, with Todd joining the family in 1968. Carol and Duane raised their family in Duluth, MN, where she became known for her compassion. She enjoyed camping trips with her family and traveling with Duane. The two of them enjoyed dancing, especially square dancing.

During the seventies, Carol taught a ceramics class and went so far as transforming her basement into a full ceramic studio. When her children were in elementary school, she worked as a lunch lady at their school. Later, she spent nearly thirty years at JCPenney, where she loved using her employee discount to buy clothes for her grandchildren and she even talked the kids into putting on little fashion shows.

Family meant everything to Carol. She treasured time with her siblings, especially their Thursday night dinners, and she loved gathering with her nieces, nephews, and extended family. Carol’s greatest joy came from her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved seeing them happy and sharing in all the blessings life brought.

Carol was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Duluth, serving on the altar guild and baking bars for church events. She also enjoyed her time with the Duluth Red Hats Society.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Fike, and her parents, Clarence and Shirley Warner. She is survived by her three children: Ron (Tomi) Fike, Gail Fike-Price, and Todd (Karen) Fike; her six grandchildren: Ian (Christina) Fike, Bryce (Alissa) Fike, Darby (Cody) Njos, Kaitlin Fike, Jack Price, and Sean Price; and ten great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Devin, Ella, Delilah, Peter, Benno, Elijah, Greta, Liam and Hazel; her sister Judy Anderson; her brothers, Dick (Linda) Warner and Mark (Steve Muth) Warner; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with Livestream will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4000 28th Street South, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, with the service to follow at 1:00 PM.
