Carol Jean Kilsdonk

May 8, 1950 — April 10, 2022

Carol J. (Schmidt) Kilsdonk, 71, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo, ND.

Carol Jean Kilsdonk was born May 8, 1950, to Bette and Hugo Schmidt in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Fargo North High School. Carol moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to her sister, Sue, and worked as a dental assistant for about 6 years.

Carol united in marriage to Christopher Kilsdonk on March 5, 1980, in Moorhead, MN, where they raised their twin boys, Noah and Joseph, which led to many memories at the lake, trips to the E.R., stitches, scars, headaches, and stories to tell her grandchildren.

Carol worked for 32 years as the Head Purchasing Officer at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, until she retired in 2008. After she retired, she spent many summers at the lake and traveling trips to Duluth with Chris.  Carol enjoyed the tranquility of nature, the beauty of the arts, antiquing, reading, and trying new recipes. She loved hosting holiday dinners and making sure her grandkids were stuffed with desserts and candy.

Carol is survived by her husband, Chris Kilsdonk; twin sons, Noah (Bethany Vetter) and Joseph (Jessie) Kilsdonk; 5 grandchildren; sister, Sue (Kent) Richey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bette and Hugo Schmidt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Minnesota’s Future Forest Fund (https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/grants/gifts/future_forests.html) or PFLAG (https://pflag.org/) as Carol had a passion for nature and equal rights for all.

A private family memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
