Charles Richard Amundson, 86, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Farmstead Living surrounded by his family.
Chuck was born on July 15, 1939, in Graceville, Minnesota, to R.A. and Alice Amundson. He attended school in Browns Valley, MN graduating in 1957. Depending on when you met him, you may have known him as Dick, Dickie, Chuck, Charlie or Papa Charlie.
Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1963. After returning home, he married the love of his life, Linda Lillian Dobbs, on November 6, 1965. Together they raised three children who were the pride and joy of his life: Chris (Brian) Jenkins of Clark SD, Carol (Richard) Fowler of Murrieta CA, and Brad (Denielle) Amundson of Moorhead MN.
He devoted 33 years to a career with Western Paper Company / International Paper Company, where his dedication and good humor earned the respect and friendship of many colleagues.
After retirement Chuck and his wife Linda enjoyed winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona where he found sunshine, friends, and plenty of stories to share. Summers were spent closer to home where he devoted many years volunteering at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag. He was known for printing the newspaper on the 1871 Washington printing press that was owned and used in his father’s printing business. He also enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all their sporting activities and accomplishments.
In later years, Charlie found joy and companionship with his significant other, Veronica Piffko of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. Together they shared many adventures including memorable cruises and traveling throughout the years. They would split their time between Canada and Minnesota.
Charlie is survived by his children and their spouses; grandchildren Carson (Mikaela) Amundson, Hudson Amundson, Cole Fowler, and Emma Fowler; his beloved companion Veronica; brothers-in-law, Gary, Denny (Beth), Darrell (Paula), Dale and Greg Dobbs; sister-in-law, Lori (Bob) Goodhart and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents, R.A. and Alice; sister, Jean Lemmerman Flatten; infant sister, Carolyn; and father and mother-in-law, Donald & Arlene Dobbs.
Charlie will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, his love of adventure, and his ability to connect with everyone he met. His spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at United Methodist Presbyterian Church of Browns Valley, MN at 11:00 A.M. visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
