Charles D. Ambuehl

Charles D. Ambuehl, 87, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2020 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Charles David Ambuehl was born March 3, 1933 to Lowell and Olga (Evenstad) Ambuehl in Ada, MN. Charles was one of four children. After high school graduation in 1950, he enlisted in the Navy and served four years, including a tour in Europe on the USS Blair. He returned to Ada and married Joanne DesJardins in December of 1954. They were married for 21 years and raised three children.

Charles attended Dakota Business College in Fargo for 2 years, focusing on Business Administration and Higher Accounting. He was employed at Strand Marcy Insurance until opening his own business, the Charles Ambuehl Income Tax and Insurance Agency. Charles retired at age 73 after a long career serving his clients and friends. He was also active in many civic organizations. Charles was an avid outdoorsman, who loved watching wildlife, hunting and fishing, especially walleye. He enjoyed traveling around the United States and Caribbean areas. Charles loved country music and attending We-Fest annually.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Denise (Arthur) Johnson, West Fargo, ND, and son Gregory (Carol) Ambuehl, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Corey (Amy) Johnson, Christine, ND, Lacey (Casey) Stoudt,  Jamestown, ND, Jordan (Michelle) Chase, Brooklyn Center, MN; Juliane (Colby) Chase-Wilson, Champlin, MN, Danielle (Cooper) Steffes, Casselton, ND, and Sarah Ambuehl, Cape Coral, FL; great-granddaughters, Avery Marthaler, Jamestown, ND, Zelda Chase, Brooklyn Center, MN, and Lucille Wilson, Champlin, MN.

Charles is also survived by a brother, Wayne (Arlene) Ambuehl, New Hope, MN; brother-in-law, Morris Sprung, Minneapolis, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother-in-law, his daughter, Lisa Ambuehl Chase and a granddaughter, Lauren Ambuehl.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be in Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN.
