Charlotte Carrol (Blakeway) Haug, 94, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Eventide on 8th, Moorhead, MN.
Charlotte was born on March 23, 1929, to Joseph and Eleanor (Perkins) Blakeway, in Riverton Township, MN. She grew up on a family farm near Hawley, MN. She attended and graduated from Hitterdal High School in 1947. After high school, she began waitressing at a local restaurant in Hawley. She met Grant Haug at a barn dance, and they were married soon after on April 8, 1949, in Hawley, MN.
Grant started various construction companies over the years, and Charlotte worked for Grant doing bookwork and supervising for G.B. Haug Construction. After her work with Grant, she worked for Fargo Waterworks and Concordia Cobbler Kids before her retirement.
Charlotte enjoyed fishing, gardening, and canning, especially tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, lettuce, and carrots. She was a very hard worker and always had to stay moving. She never owned a dishwasher and believed the dishes best washed by hand and the floors cleaned on your knees. Cleanliness was her forte, and things had to be cleaned her way which was the correct way. Charlotte was known for her stubbornness. Charlotte and Grant were charter members at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and were very active members throughout their lives.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Judy Berceau, Harley (Cheryl) Haug, and Dan (Gale) Haug; grandchildren, Justin (Amy) Paulsen, Joel (Nichole) Paulsen, Nichole (Anthony) Mastrud, Jessica (Nick) Massie, Jay (Caitlin) Haug, Brenda (Mitch) Splichal, and Erik Haug; 15 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Grant; son-in-law, Robert Berceau; grandson, Jeffrey Scott Paulsen; siblings, Virgil, Cynthia, Hyacinth, Infant Elizabeth, William, Elmer, and Genevieve.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available on her webpage at www.wrightfuneral.com where a guestbook and video tribute may be found. Burial will be at Keene Cemetery following the service.
