David Laske, 82 of Fargo, ND passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Farmstead Living, Moorhead, MN.

David was born on June 24, 1944, to Luella and Gerhard Laske. He grew up in Graceville, MN and graduated from Graceville High School in 1962. He went on to earn his degree from Yankton College, Yankton, SD as a Licensed Public Accountant.

David made his home in Fargo in the early part of 1970, where he started his professional career as a licensed public accountant for Eide Helmeke & Co. He later started his own firm; Laske, Ltd.

David was a quiet, reserved man, not always easy to get to know at first. Those who earned his friendship discovered one of the kindest, big-hearted people they could have hoped to meet. David loved to cook and bake for family and friends, as well as being a tough but fair food critic. Conversations about food, how a chef prepared it and how it should be properly prepared were among his favorites. If David said it was a delicious meal, you knew you had done well. He especially cherished the holidays; Christmas was his favorite. He delighted in decorating his home inside and out. Gardening also brought joy to him. He loved sharing stories of his past, including funny stories involving his uncle Martin. He had a deep appreciation for history and music, and he had an extensive collection of vinyl beginning from the early 1900s. Friends who knew him well will smile at the mention of the “meatloaf” story, best heard from those who shared it with him. David’s primary hobby was researching his family’s ancestry.

David spent thirty-three years as a board member for Fraser, Ltd.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Luella Laske, his siblings Walter Laske, Diane Duffield, Janice Thalacker, and his nephew Jeff Laske.

David is survived by his nieces, Cindy (Craig) Oldenburg, Kristi (Gregg) Miller Biebler, Laurie (Tim) O’Malley, Cindy Holcomb, Michelle (late husband Laurie) Thalacker, nephews, Dennis (Peggy) Duffield, Chris (Christa) Thalacker.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 13, from 9:00-10:00 am, followed by the memorial service at 10:00 am in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be later that day at Graceville Cemetery, Graceville, MN.
