David Matson

David Matson, 64, of Moorhead, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 10, in Fargo, ND. David was born July 23, 1952, in Moorhead, MN, to Donald and Lola Mae Pearson. He grew up in Moorhead and graduated from high school in 1970. Following high school, he continued his education at Moorhead Technical College. On August 23, 1975, he married LaVonne Schanz. David started his career at Kirby Vacuum, now University Vacuum in 1977, where he was still very active. He took pride and enjoyed rebuilding classic cars and had done several over the years. He also enjoyed attending car shows and being with family, especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed.

David is survived by his daughter, Cherie Gentry of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Savanna, Michael and Tristan Gentry; mother, Lola Mae Matson of Moorhead, MN; siblings, Donald Faye Matson of St. Cloud, MN, Darlene Jim Reavis of Pueblo West, CO, Russell Matson of St. Cloud, MN; and 5 nieces and nephews and their children.

He was preceded in death by his father, step-father and a nephew.

Visitation will be Friday, from 12 – 1 p.m., followed by the funeral at 1 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
