Delores M. Lystrom

January 18, 1931 — September 27, 2010

Delores was born January 18, 1931 in Mentor, MN, to Otto and Laura Tice Gustafson. After her high school graduation she attended teachers training. She taught in a one room classroom school, also tutoring veterans after they returned home. That was how she met Walt. Delores and Walt were married on August 25, 1951 in Crookston, MN. They lived in Fisher, Ada and Lake Park, MN. Walt died January 10, 2010. She was a wonderful stay-at-home mom, raising five children and taking care of her husband. After moving to Lake Park in 1968, she worked at the creamery, Lake Park Post Office, and retired from Sunnyside Care Center after twenty-three as a secretary and bookkeeper. Her devoted faith helped her raise her family with love, respect and strong bonds. She was generous, kind, helpful, friendly, accepting, and had a loving heart after surviving three heart surgeries. Family was the cornerstone of her life. She took tremendous pride and joy in spending time with her family. She also enjoyed family vacations and gatherings at her home. She was a member of Lake Park Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Martha Circle and the church choir. She also was a member of the Lake Park Senior Club and the Community Cantata Choir. Delores enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings feel free to wear purple to the funeral, baking, singing, crafting, music, socializing and watching her children and grandchildren grow. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Pamela Zachariason, brother, Willard "Swede" Gustafson and brother-in-law, Dick Lystrom. She is survived by her children, Peggy Ullrich, Patricia Larry Olson, Paula Danny Smet and Wayne Donna Lystrom; son-in-law, Keith Julie Zachariason; sister-in-law, Connie Lystrom; grandchildren, Rachel Don Rieniets, Becky Jo Shawn Kaiser, Robyn Ullrich, Angela Dustin Patch, Mike Landvick, Mitch Landvick, Shelley Landvick, Stacy Damon Teller, Leif Lystrom, Luke Lystrom, Levi Lystrom, Laura Mike Hruby, Lindsey Zachariason and Lance Zachariason; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Tylor, Maddison, Hunter, Fiona, Carter, Ryan and Reagan.
