Donald L. Dickelman

Donald L. Dickelman, 93, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Eventide Senior Living, Moorhead, MN. Donald LeRoy Dickelman was born January 2, 1930, in Barnesville, MN, to Alvin and Edna “Jennie” (Cook) Dickelman. He grew up on the family farm south of Sabin and attended District 21 country school. Donald graduated from Moorhead High School. In 1951, he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Japan and Korea before returning home. Donald married Arlene Rosenfeldt on June 6, 1954. Together they made their home in Sabin. and began working in construction with his dad, building bridges, garages and granaries. He later worked for Silver Line Boats in Moorhead, then Classic Roadsters in Fargo before Sugar Sand Marine until retiring in 1998.

Donald was a Charter Member of the Sabin Lions Club, and a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Rod & Gun Club.

Over the years, Donald loved to hunt, fish, golf, play cards, and spend time at the Hunting Cabin near Itasca. He also enjoyed camping, reading, dancing and spending time at their home on Lee Lake. He and Arlene moved to Eventide in Moorhead in January of 2022.

Donald is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Hal (Karen) Dickelman, Laurie (Joe) Moore and Carla Dickelman; grandchildren, Heath (Savannah) Dickelman and Brady (Mallory) Dickelman; Sara (Chuck) Skatvold, Brian (Mandi) Moore; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ardis Rosenfeldt, Muriel Stenback and Carol Thompson; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Darryl; sisters, Ginny Hanson, Jeanette Kava; brothers-in-law, Loren Rosenfeldt, Dick Thompson, John Kava; sister-in-law, Eunice Dickelman.

Visitation will be Friday, June 23, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, MN.

Interment will follow the service at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
