Donald J. Honcik

Donald J. Honcik, age 72, of Hawley, MN, died Monday, November 8, 2010, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.Donald James Honcik was born on September 11, 1938, to James and Viola "Dolly" Cummings Honcik in Cromwell Township. He grew up and attended school in Hawley, graduating from Hawley High School in 1956. Donald joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Newfoundland for two years before he was honorably discharged. He then married Roberta Cowger. They were later divorced. Donald spent much of his working career in construction before retiring from West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids, MN. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking as well as the many years that he spent bonding with his father, following the death of his mother.He is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth, Valarie, Lori and Katie; one brother, James Carol Honcik of Moorhead, MN; four sisters, Viola Mikula of Britton, SD, Beverly Kermit Nelson of Hawley, MN, Jeannine James Pascua of Mandan, ND and Susan Gary Heller of Rock Lake, ND; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son.
