Donald J. Tweten, age 93, of Ulen, MN, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, MN.
Donald Jerome Tweten was born on August 3, 1927 to George and Otilla (Fuchs) Tweten in Fargo, ND. Donald attended school in Glyndon before he began working on the family farm. Donald married the love of his life, Nora Munson, on December 17, 1950. Donald entered the Army in 1951 and served in Germany. After his honorable discharge, Donald farmed and worked various jobs before moving to Ulen in 1964. He began working for Kost Brothers where he stayed for 30 years until his retirement.
Following his retirement, Donald would spend summers cutting wood and helping with potato harvest on the Tweten Farm. Donald and Nora loved gatherings with friends and family, camping, wintering in AZ, traveling, spending time at their lake place in Pinehurst, and playing Bingo. He was a member of the Dilworth VFW Post #1223. Donald was loved for his quick wit, great memory, and jokester personality. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
Donald is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nora; children, Linda Olson of Shoreview, MN, Dale (Lisa) Tweten of Fargo, ND, Jay Tweten of Lake Park, MN, and Joy (Tom) Gerner of Doran, MN; 12 grandchildren, Jered, Gabriel, Jaclyn, Abigail, Kari, Samantha, Meghan, Nathaniel, Brandon, Joseph, Savannah, and Stephanie; 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, George Tweten Jr and Roy (Marie) Tweten; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Tweten.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Daniel Olson; brother, Russel Tweten; and sister-in-law, Mary Tweten.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 3P.M., with a visitation starting at 1:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley.
