Dorothy Jean Erickson

Dorothy Jean Erickson, 87, Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy Jean Hartfiel was born January 7, 1934, to Lenz Hartfiel and Bertha (Hoffseader) Hartfiel in Mercer Island, WA.  She grew up and attended school in Seattle, WA.  In 1946, Dorothy and family moved to Devils Lake, ND.

Dorothy was educated at St. Mary’s School for 1 year and then Central High School.

On November 18, 1950, Dorothy was married to Tilford Erickson in Ada, MN.   Together they raised 2 daughters, Bonnie and Debbie, and a son, Rick.

They were members of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devil’s Lake where Dorothy taught Sunday school and circle.

Dorothy worked 30 years as a CNA doing what she loved, taking care of the residents there.  Early in the morning she would work on knitting baby sweaters for any babies that were born before going to work.

Tilford and Dorothy moved to Moorhead where Rick and Debbie lived, in 2004.  Tilford joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church and later Dorothy joined.  After Tilford passed away in 2015 Dorothy moved to the Carriage House in Moorhead where she met new friends that became close to her.

She is survived by daughter, Debbie (Ed) Fuller, Moorhead; son, Rick (Marsha) Erickson, Moorhead; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tilford, and daughter, Bonnie Pritchert.

Dorothy was loved by all who knew her and her memory will be forever in our hearts.
