Duwayne D. Halvorson

DuWayne D. Halvorson, 77, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Hitterdal, MN, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Sanford’s Hospice House, Fargo, ND. DuWayne was born October 30, 1944, in Moorhead, MN, to Lloyd and Gudrun Halvorson. DuWayne attended school in Moorhead, Hawley, and Hitterdal. Following high school, DuWayne began working before being drafted in to the U.S. Army. He served from 1965 – 1967 and was stationed in Europe. He enjoyed seeing that part of the world, especially Germany and France. Following his service, DuWayne returned to the area. On September 27, 1968, he married Sheryl Selseth. Together they made their home in Hitterdal and started a family. Over the years, DuWayne spent most of his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator with Fargo Excavating. He enjoyed the work and took pride in it. DuWayne also enjoyed watching Vikings and through it all remained a faithful fan. In recent years, he became familiar with his pellet grill/smoker and enjoyed the family gatherings and great food. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family.

DuWayne is survived by his wife, Sheryl; children, Lisa (Kirk) Golliet, Rebecca (Bob) Stevens, DuWayne (April) Halvorson, Jason (dear friend Arissa McDonald) Halvorson; grandchildren, Cody (Caitlin) Halvorson, Jade (Jesse) Anders, Dillon Stevens, Robin (Eric Swenson) Stevens, Brianne Stevens, Bobbi Jo (Devin Gunderson) Stevens, Chance Halvorson; great grandchildren, Caleb, Evelyn, Eli, Harry, Sola, Emerson, Aria, Sofia, Taylynn, Hiykton, Vivian, Addison, Rhett, Connor; and two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 18, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
