Edward Thomas Hencz, 94, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Bethany on University, Fargo, ND.
Edward was born on March 28, 1931, to Theodore “Ted” and Anna (Krush) Hencz in Wilton, ND. He grew up in Wilton where he attended and graduated from Wilton High School. He attended NDSU before enlisting in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1954, serving in the Korean war.
After serving his country, Edward returned to Fargo, ND, where he began his career as a Fargo Police Officer for the next 30 years. During that time, he worked part time as a carpenter. He owned a few real estate investments in the Fargo area, most notably, a building on 13th Avenue, that at one point had the Spirit Shop as a tenant. After his retirement, he stayed in Fargo working odd jobs to keep himself busy.
Edward was a member of the Fargo VFW. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
Edward was survived by his son, Jeff Hencz and his grandson, Casey Hencz. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Hencz; grandson, Justin Hencz; parents, Ted and Anna; and his siblings, Mary (Omer) Tweten and Jenny Austin.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
