Eldoris M. Hanson

It is with full hearts that we celebrate the life of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Eldoris Hanson, who passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Friday, September 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her own home.

Born on August 3, 1929, in Northwood, ND she lived a life rooted in love, family, and faith. In November of 1946 she married Duane Hanson of Northwood, and they moved to Lake Park in 1963. They bought the Jordahl grocery store and named it Hanson’s Fairway, operating it together several years. She was the proud mother of six children, Roger (Laurie) of Moorhead, Larry of Lake Park, Rick (Jo) of Lake Park, Vicki (Tom) Bukowski of Cottonwood, AZ, Julie Derrickson of Onalaska, WI and Kim (Brent) Moen of Hawley, Her family were not only the joy of her life but also her life’s greatest work. She extended that love to countless others through her years of babysitting, where she cared for so many children as though they were her own.

Her home was the heartbeat of the family, a place where laughter echoed, stories were shared, and no one ever left hungry. Whether she was serving her famous homemade buns, gooey cinnamon rolls, or a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies, her kitchen table was always open, and there was always room for one more.

Eldoris had a special gift for bringing people together. She cherished time spent with those she loved, especially late-night games of cards that were filled with friendly competition and plenty of laughter. She made every gathering memorable, and her presence made everyone feel at home.

Her family is forever grateful for the tender care provided by hospice and the devotion of her children and grandchildren, which allowed her to live her final days in the same home where so many beautiful memories were made.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and togetherness that will live on through her 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 2:00 at Lake Park Lutheran Church. Visitation 1 hour before service at the church. In honor of Eldoris, the family invites everyone to share a memory or a story in her honor—just as she would have wanted.

Her hands may be at rest, but the warmth of her love will forever rise like the scent of fresh buns from her oven.

She is survived by sister, Jean Morast of Hillsboro, ND, sister Marilyn (Snooky) Sieg of Eureka, SD, brother Dale Anderson of Blaine, MN, sister-in-law Janice Anderson of Detroit Lakes, MN.

She was preceded in death by husband, Duane, one son Randy and two brothers, LeRoy Anderson and Wayne Anderson and great-grandson Cole. In lieu of flowers the family desires for memorials to be given to HIA Hospice or Lake Park Lutheran Church.
