Eleanor Karen Brandt, 85. passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at her home in Moorhead, MN.

Eleanor Karen Brakke was born July 19, 1936, to Oscar and Clara (Brink) Brakke in rural Horace, ND. She was baptized on November 1, 1936 and confirmed on May 21, 1950 by Pastor Ernest Gjelten in Hoff Lutheran Church.  She grew up on the family farm near Rustad, MN, attended school in Rustad and graduated from Comstock High School in 1954.  Eleanor married Robert G. Brandt in Hoff Lutheran Church in Rustad, MN on July 31, 1954.  They remained members there until 1958 when they transferred membership to Comstock where she was very active. Together they made their home in Comstock with daughters Theresa and Sandra. Eleanor was a homemaker and worked for Buttrey’s clothing store in Fargo for 12 years.  In April 2013 Eleanor and Robert moved to Moorhead, MN.  Robert passed away August 6, 2016.

Eleanor was a caretaker at heart, always welcoming her family and friends into her home with a comforting meal and putting the needs of everyone else first. She will be remembered for her loving hospitality and service to others.  She loved spending time at Lake Lida and although she would not go in the water herself, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren swimming and playing in the lake. Family gatherings were frequent and she loved celebrating every birthday and anniversary for all immediate family, including dinners every other Sunday. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Theresa (David) Nelson, of Moorhead and Sandra (Mark) Anderson, of Comstock; grandchildren, Derrick (Amber) Nelson, of Comstock, Samantha Nelson (Michael Gentry), of Moorhead, Kelly (Matt) Diercks, of Cold Spring, MN and Kirk (Ashlee) Anderson, of Moorhead; great-grandchildren, Aiden Nelson, of Comstock, Tucker Gentry, of Moorhead, Andi, Bo and Riley Diercks, of Cold Spring and Easton and Coen Anderson, of Moorhead; brother, Norm Brakke, of Everett, WA; brothers-in-law Duane (Virgie) Brandt, of Moorhead, Harold (Ardelle) Brandt, of Moorhead; sisters-in-law Karen (Ron) Offutt, of Fargo, ND and Dorothy Brakke, of Fargo; special family Paul, Brenda, Denetre and Zac Anderson (Randee Hamman), of Comstock and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Brandt; parents, Oscar and Clara Brakke; siblings Helen Brakke, Mildred (Delbert) Evert, Milton (Rhoda) Brakke, Orris (Lorraine) Brakke, H. Donald Brakke, Bev (Carl) Carlson, Gordy (Shirley) Brakke; sisters-in-law, Sheila Brakke,  Verlee Brandt, Lavon Brandt; brother-in-law, Larry Brandt and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all who visited, sent cards and prayed for Eleanor.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.  The funeral service will be Friday, February 4, 2022, at 11 A.M., with visitation from 10-11 A.M., at Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock, MN. Interment will be at Comstock Lutheran Cemetery.
