Elsie Carol Bjorndahl was born on June 4, 1938, in Ada, Minnesota to Henry and Helga Swenson. She died June 11, 2026, at Eventide in Fargo, North Dakota.

Elsie moved to Dilworth, Minnesota with her family where she attended elementary and high school. She graduated from Dilworth High School in 1956. Elsie married Neil Bjorndahl on December 8, 1956, at Dilworth Lutheran Church and in this union four children were born, Deborah, Richard, Kevin and Lori.

Elsie worked at American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead, MN for 38 years.

Elsie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved making spaghetti and meatballs for family events and had a passion for making the most amazing homemade buns in town. She enjoyed attending Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion where she would catch up with family and friends.

Elsie is survived by her children, Deborah Branden, Dilworth, MN, Richard Bjorndahl, Moorhead, MN and Lori (Rick) Gruhl , Hawley, MN; grandchildren, Michael Branden, Dilworth, MN, Jason Bjorndahl, Moorhead, MN, Jeremy (Tressie) Branden, (great grandkids Macyn and Khloe Branden) Moorhead, MN, Amberly Branden, Shakopee, MN, Kenny Bjorndahl (Amanda Kunze) ( great grandkids Lexi, Blake, Emery and Layne Bjorndahl), Hawley, MN, Megan (Monty) Martin (great grandkids Cole, Kendra and Kinsley Martin), Sabin, MN, Robert (Barbara) Gruhl, (great grandkids Emilia and Benjamin Gruhl) Duluth, MN, Emma (Wyatt) Hanson, Crookston, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Helga, brother Arnold, sisters Esther, Ethel, and Joann, son Kevin Bjorndahl, son-in-law David Branden and grandson Jay Branden.

The family of Elsie C Bjorndahl gratefully acknowledges your attendance and many kind expressions of sympathy during their time of loss and invite you to join them for lunch and fellowship following the service.

A memorial service with Livestream will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, MN.

Final resting place will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN.
