Emede Gilberto “Gilbert” Garza Jr.

Emede Gilberto “Gilbert” Garza, Jr., 51, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, in Essentia Health Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Gilbert was born on December 15, 1970, to Emede and Odilia (Vargas) Garza, Sr., in Corpus Christi, TX. He attended schools in Robstown, TX, until Junior High. He attended Crystal City High School before beginning a CAN program to work as a medical assistant in Crystal City. After working briefly as a medical assistant, he attended vocational school in Moorhead, MN, achieving his Journeyman Carpenter’s License. From there, he began his career as an electrician, working at Top Notch Electrical in San Antonio, TX. He was united in marriage to Angela Olson in San Antonio. They moved back to Moorhead, MN, where he worked at Magnum Electric for a short time. He then began working various job’s part time and was a full-time grandfather.

Gilbert enjoyed Fishing, drawing, and fixing bicycles. He was proud of his work and loved to talk about it as he was a hard worker with a great work ethic. He absolutely loved his family, especially his grandchildren and spent as much time with them as he possibly could.

Gilbert was survived by his loving wife, Angela; children, Jose Desjarlais, Loretta Garza, Bea Garza, and Christine Garza; grandchildren, Andre, Ayden, Alijah, Preslyn, Chayslee, Alexavier, Alexander, Aleah and Emede; siblings, Thomas, Enrique, Arturo, and Robert; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Emede, Sr.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
