Fran R. Ladwig

Fran R. Ladwig, 66, of Moorhead, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, due to complications from a short fight with cancer.
Fran was born May 9, 1950, in Moorhead, to Arthur and Betty Frederick Mortenson. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1968 and went on to obtain a degree in Criminal Justice from Moorhead State University in 1987. Shortly after graduating from MSU she began her career in the financial unit at Clay County Social Services. Throughout her years at Clay County, Fran mentored, helped, and touched the lives of so many people. After 27 years of service, Fran retired from the county in May 2015.
After retirement, Fran enjoyed spending time reading and she especially loved travelling to visit family and friends throughout the country.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Mortenson. She is survived by her sons, Brian Ladwig, Moorhead, Casey Ladwig, St. Paul, and Joshua April Ladwig, Batavia, IL. Fran was an exceptional mother and dear friend to many. “You were taken too soon, and we love and will miss you dearly.”
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service and time to share memories at 7 P.M. Interment will be at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
A wonderful mother, mentor, and friend, Fran will be loved and cherished forever in the memories of all those who knew her, both friends and family.
