Gary Keith Lunder

Gary Keith Lunder was born October 24, 1945, to Earl and Audrey (Erickson) Lunder.  He grew up on a dairy farm outside of Hawley, MN.  He attended school in Hawley and graduated in 1963.  Gary enlisted in the Army right after graduation and served 3 years.  Overseas tours included Korea and Okinawa, Japan.  When he returned home, he met Judith Gunderson and married her June 4, 1967.  Gary worked at Fairmont Creamery until he joined the Fargo Fire Department.  He was a firefighter with the Fargo Fire Department for 35 years until he retired in 2002.  After retiring from the fire department, he worked parttime at Hilleshog Seed for several years.

Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Fishing became his passion in his retirement years.

Gary and Judy had 2 children, Michele Lunder and Michael Lunder. He has five siblings: Susan (Robert) Giarrusso, Mary (Wayne) Aakre, Dianne (Dean) Klemetson, David Lunder, and Debra (Monte) Ashmore, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Audrey Lunder.

Gary died August 17, 2022, after suffering a massive stroke.  His family was with him when he passed.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 3:00 P.M., with visitation from 2:00 to 3:00, at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN.
