Gladys I. Wignes, 99, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Eventide on 8th, Moorhead, MN. Gladys was born in Moorhead on July 31, 1926, to Carius “Cy” and Nora (Hoover) Jacobsen. She grew up in Moorhead where she graduated from high school. Gladys married Raymond H. Dahl in 1944 and they had four children. They managed a service station in Glyndon, and she later worked at the Highway Host and The Hill. Gladys later married her life partner, Loren Wignes, in 1967. She and Loren nurtured the growth of “Le Homme Land Resort” near Alexandria for 10 years. After selling the resort, they continued to enjoy living life on lakes: first Taylor Lake at Alexandria, then to the Park Rapids area to Lake Bell Taine, and finally Lower Bottle Lake. Over the years they were inseparable, enjoying an active life together, square dancing, traveling, fishing, golfing, biking, bird watching, and simply enjoying nature. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidering and making quilts. After retiring, they moved back to Moorhead where Gladys has enjoyed living in the Eventide community for the past several years.

Gladys is survived by her son, Denis (Donna) Dahl: daughter, Cindy Dahl; step-son, Steve (Betty) Wignes; step-daughter Rebecca (Jeff Quam) Smith; grandchildren, Michelle Walks, Michael (Marci) Walks, Denise (Todd) Hukriede, Adam (Chris) Dahl, Kristi Dahl, Joey Dahl, Billie Jo (Joseph) McGinnis-Kiedrowski; Jeremy Dahl; many great-grandchildren; two twin great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlys Winter and Carol Emerson; and sister-in-law, Jean Jacobsen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; daughter, Diane Kay Walks; son, Gary Dahl; granddaughter, Renae McGinnis; brothers, Raymond, Wayne and Marvin Jacobsen; sisters, Cathaleen Koenig and Darlene Anderson; sister-in-law, Mavis Jacobsen; and brothers-in-law, Paul Koenig, Chuck Anderson, Jim Winter and Floyd Emerson.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, from 2:00 - 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
