Gloria Ann Bloom

Surrounded by her family both near and far, Gloria Ann Bloom, 89, died Wednesday, July 6^th 2022, at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead, MN, following a battle with an auto-immune skin disease, diabetes and other medical issues that plagued her for many years.  Sadly, she was just a few weeks shy of her 90^th birthday.

Gloria was born on July 29^th 1932 in Gary, MN to Benjamin Cornell Bentley and Alice Augusta Zug.  She grew up on a farm near Twin Valley, MN; she always said that she didn’t know they were poor because the whole neighborhood was poor!  After graduation she worked in Twin Valley for a year before moving to Fargo where she worked at NDSU as a secretary.

Gloria met Robert Stanley Bloom at the Ada Valley Fair in June 1951.  They married the following year on June 8^th 1952, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Twin Valley, MN.  They made their home in Moorhead, MN, where Robert worked as an accountant and Gloria worked at multiple places as a secretary.  They started Bloom’s Tax Service in 1962, which they operated until Robert retired.  Gloria’s family was her ultimate joy and achievement.  She loved the time that they spent together at Turtle Lake while their children were growing up, and the visits home from her children and grandchildren that lived out of town.  Church, bridge and other card games were her special interests.  Much loved, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Gloria is predeceased by her husband Robert, two sons-in-law, and her three beloved dogs (Buster, Rex, Benji).   She is survived by four children: Brenda (Robert) Tassé, Rita Soldatke, Rhonda (Ralph) Ubben, Gary (Michelle) Bloom; six grandchildren:  Joseph Fransen, Ruth Pederson, Hannah Pederson (Allen Ruan), Michelle Osten (Keith Glidewell), Evan Bloom, Jenna Bloom; three step-grandchildren: Jeff (Malissa) Ubben, Scott (Andrea) Ubben, Kristine (John) Keller; two great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; four nieces; one nephew; and many cousins.

Visitation: Saturday, July 30th, 2022 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home (605 Second Avenue South, Moorhead, MN).

Memorial Service: Saturday, July 30th, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home followed by a light lunch.

Interment:  Oak Grove Cemetery, Lake Park, MN
