Gloria J. Long

Gloria Jean Long, 80 of Moorhead, MN passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Lilac Homes, Moorhead, MN. 

Gloria was born in Langdon, ND on February 27, 1943, to William and Ethel (Magnus) MacDowall. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Langdon High School in 1961. 

Gloria married Gerald Long on December 16, 1962, and they moved to Fargo before buying their home in Moorhead. They raised three children before Gloria went to work for Concordia College in the maintenance department where she spent 34 years before retiring in 2011. 

Gloria enjoyed spending time at the lake, happy hours (preferably with live music), anything Elvis, and had a heart for animals. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her children, Douglas (Dawn) Long, Lori (Michael) Gilbertson and Billy (Chrissy) Long; grandchildren, Matt, Andrew (Lori), Jessica (Michael) Motschenbacher, Brandon, Nicholas, Shelby (Kelly) Jacobson, Sophia and Lewis Long; niece, Patty Dahley, and great-niece, Seren Dahley, as well as other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Donnie, Jimmy, Neil, David, and Earl; sisters, Margaret, Vivian, Ila, and Betty; and great-grandson, Greyson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Moorhead, MN following the service.
