Gordon H. “Bun” Burnside, Jr., 78, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, at SMP St. Catherine’s North, Fargo, ND. Gordon was born March 19, 1948, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Gordon Sr., and Juanita Burnside. He grew up and attended school in Hawley, MN. Following high school, Gordon served in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic before returning to the area. He married Phyllis Wolf in 1969, and they made their home in California. He later moved back to Hawley and in 1978 married Vicky Newgren.

Gordon enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting and baking. He will be remembered for his wit and gift of storytelling.

Gordon is survived by his son, David (Dawn); daughters, Valerie (Scott) and Sabrina (Shane); grandchildren, Kayla (Ryan), Kari (Nolan), Bryce, Jazmine (Carson), Kiarra (Ben), Hunter (Erica), Stephen, Adam, Blake “Buddy” and Aris “Peanut”; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Veronica; parents, Gordon and Juanita; brothers, Chuck and Larry; and nephew, Travis.

A graveside service with military honors will be on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
