Gordon Allen Hanson, 79 of Moorhead, MN passed away peacefully at River Pointe Assisted Living, Moorhead, surrounded by his daughter Stacie, son Todd, and granddaughter Alyssa on the evening of January 23rd, 2024.
Gordon was one of four children, born on April 20th, 1944, to Lawrence and Margaret Hanson in Hannaford, ND. He was raised in Fargo, ND and attended Fargo schools. He graduated from Central High School in 1962 and enlisted in the Army following graduation. On August 29th, 1965, he married DiAnna Wilkens in Ada, MN and they later welcomed four children into their lives. Early on in his career he worked in the wholesale floral industry and then worked in the construction field until his retirement. He loved going fishing with his brother Gary and helping his friend Gary with his bate shop in Fargo.
Gordon is survived by his children, Todd, Lori, Randy (Carrie), Stacie (Brady); grandchildren, Alyssa (Colton), Sam, Landon (Caylie), Wyatt, lan, Grace and Brevin, great-grandchildren, Kaisen William and Graham Allen; brother, Terry (Diane); sister, Marlys Weiland; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Margaret; brother-in-law, Don Weiland; nephew, Jason Burkland; and his brother and best friend Gary Hanson.
We would like to send a very heartfelt thank you to all the River Pointe staff for their amazing care for our dad and the wonderful friendships he gained while living there the last 2 years. He was very loved by the staff and residents that he became good friends with. He was known to shoot the breeze with everyone around and he loved his dessert.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service and Livestream beginning at 7 PM.
Burial will take place Friday, February 2, at 10:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
