Howard Jerome Myhra, 91, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Lilac Homes, Dilworth, MN.

Howard was born on October 10, 1934, in rural Hawley, MN, to Melvin and Nellie (Hovelson) Myhra. He grew up on the family farm in rural Hawley and attended Country School District #17 in Lake Park through the 8th grade. After graduating, he helped his father with farming on the family farm until 1958.

Howard enlisted in the Army National Guard and served his country for the next six years. He was united in marriage to Orla Green on November 28, 1959, at Jevnaker Church in rural Borup, MN. While serving his country Howard began his work with American Crystal Sugar and he operated his own gravel trucking business. Afterwards, he began his 27 year career with the State of Minnesota Department of Transportation as an equipment operator, retiring in 1997.

Howard loved fishing, restoring old Minneapolis Moline tractors, and working in his shop. He was an active member of Hegland Lutheran Church serving as a custodian, a trustee, and partaking in another one of his favorite hobbies, maintaining the cemetery. He was also a Township Supervisor for the Eglon Township Board for 35 years. Howard treasured watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Howard is survived by his loving wife, Orla; children, Jim (Ilo) Myhra, Rod (Becky) Myhra, and Diane (Tim) House; grandchildren, Zach (Gina) Delorme, Ashley (Jase) Quelch, and Alex Myhra; 5 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Nellie; and brother, Nolan Myhra.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Hegland Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN. Burial will take place at Hegland Lutheran Church Cemetery, following the services at the church.
