Idella L Lien, age 95, of Lake Park, MN, died Monday, August 2, 2010, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN.Idella Lucille Baumgard was born on April 26, 1915, to Herman and Alma Ihrke Baumgard in Brewster, MN. Shortly after Idella was born, the family moved to Audubon, MN, where she grew up and attended school. Idella graduated from Audubon High School in 1933. She married Stanley Lien on June 20, 1939, in Audubon, MN. Together they farmed north of Lake Park until 1962 when they and their three children moved into Lake Park. Stanley died on October 6, 1968.Idella worked at the Lake Park Cafe, Jordahl's Grocery Store and Red Owl, which later became Jeff's Grocery Store. She also worked at Immanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes as well as the Lake Park Senior Citizen Center. Idella enjoyed gardening, reading, baking, cooking as well as playing cards. She was famous for her delicious cinnamon rolls and pies. At Sunnyside, Idella also enjoyed watching the shopping channel.She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Audubon teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years and serving in the Ladies Aid.She is survived by two sons and a daughter and their spouses: Neil and Donna Lien, Spring Valley, MN; Terry and Candy Lien, Fargo, ND; and Joan and Jerry Dretsch, Chesapeake, VA; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grand children: Jaci and Dan Zimmerman and their daughters Carrie, Rachel, and Haley, River Falls, WI; DeDee and Corey Marzolf and their daughters Kelsey and Mackenzie, Spring Valley, MN; Sarah and Scott Collette, Inver Grove Heights, MN; Courtney and Jay Soltau and their children Grace and Jackson, Grand Meadow, MN; Shannon and Richard Johnson and their children Stephen, Kathryn, Timothy, Elliott, and Averill, Suffolk, VA; Collin Dretsch, Arlington, VA; Andy Lien, Fargo, ND; Becky Lien, Sioux Falls, SD; and Aaron and Erica Lien and their children Asta and Anders, Okinawa, Japan.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Lester and Calvin Baumgard and an infant sister.Beloved baptized child of God, faithful worker with us in the kingdom of God, this servant and friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother leaves our hearts wishing for good years beyond 95. We trust in God's faithfulness to all who mourn and we celebrate the hope in Christ which Idella knows now and eternally.
