James Camrud

James Allen Camrud passed away at age 90 at Eventide on 8th in Moorhead, MN, on April 15, 2023. He was born February 13, 1933, in Maddock, ND to Martin and Alma (Liudahl) Camrud. He grew up and attended school near Maddock, in Larimore and Devils Lake, North Dakota, California and Moorhead, MN, graduating from Moorhead in 1951. He attended Concordia in Moorhead and graduated from NDAC (now NDSU). In 1958 he founded Camrud-Foss Construction Company with Edwin Foss. The company later became Camrud-Foss Concrete Construction and Camrud-Foss Properties.  

James was united in marriage to Carole Annette Daly in Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. They resided in and raised their 3 sons in Moorhead until moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1990. They were longtime members of Trinity Lutheran in Moorhead and were charter members of Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church in Mesa starting in 1999. James and Carole returned to Moorhead in March of 2020.

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carole, 3 sons, Bradley (Juli), Sarasota, FL, Jon, Denver, CO and Darin, Durham, NC, and 2 granddaughters, Natalie and Anneliese, Atlanta, GA. He is survived by sisters, Marian Bjornstad, Stockton, CA, Dorothy Knudtson, Billings, MT and Florence Knutson, Coon Rapids, MN and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by parents, Martin and Alma, parents-in-law Ernest and Josephine Daly, brother and sister-in-law Ivan and Juanada Camrud, sister Marlys Hofstrand, brothers-in-law Marvin Hofstrand, Larry Bjornstad, Arthur Knudtson, Phillip Knutson, nephews Eric Hofstrand and Gael Larr, and great-grand-nephew Owen Cullen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Final resting place will be in Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
