James H. “Jim” Ullrich

James H. “Jim” Ullrich, 74, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Oak Crossing Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Jim was born to Sidney and Thelma (Strand) Ullrich on November 13, 1946 in Detroit Lakes, MN. He grew up on the family farm in Lake Park and graduated from Lake Park High School. He went on to attend Bemidji State University where he received his teaching degree in mathematics. He then taught in Farmington, MN, for three years before returning home to run the family farm.

On August 1, 1970, Jim married Janice Gordhamer and they raised three boys. In 1991, while still farming, Jim went back to teaching. He retired from farming in 1999 and teaching in 2005.

Jim loved to hunt and spend time outdoors. He also took many trips to North Dakota to hunt pheasant with his boys. He enjoyed spending time with Jan and the rest of his family. He will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jan; sons, Gary, Jon and Ben; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Gavin, Addie, Ian, Carson and Reagan; sister, Connie (Wally) Bloom and brother, Dennis (Karen) Ullrich.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
