James “Jim” Hermann

James J. Hermann, 67, of Glyndon, MN, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

James “Jim” Hermann was born April 9, 1954, to James Sr. and Lucille (Wambach) Hermann of Georgetown, MN. Jim attended school at Georgetown School and Moorhead High School. He went on to Moorhead Technical School and received a degree in auto and diesel mechanics. He excelled as a mechanic at Anderson Buses, Tempo Garage, Overvold Motors, Selland Motors, and City of Fargo Emergency Services as supervisor over fire trucks and police vehicles. He also helped his dad on the family farm.

Jim married Debbie Odegaard on September 11, 1976, and moved to the family farm where they raised their four children. They lived on this farm for 36 years before moving to Glyndon, MN.

Jim loved anything to do with cars. He raced them on (and off) the racetrack. His treasured vehicle was his 1970 Mach 1 Mustang. He also loved ATVs, dirt bikes, and his Polaris snowmobiles. Along with being an excellent mechanic, Jim was also a “Jim of all trades”. A repairman was never called on for the Hermann household.

After retirement, Jim spent many hours in his new shop tinkering and fixing one of his many vehicles.

Jim is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Amanda (Eric Pearson), Murfreesboro, TN, Robert, Georgetown, Melissa Hipps, Glyndon, and Christopher, Moorhead; grandchildren, Evan and Macie Hipps; sisters, Sally Simonson and Janet Waller; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Ron Waller, Larry Simonson, and Davey Odegaard; and grandson, Dylan Pearson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at St. John’s Catholic Church, Georgetown, MN.

Burial will be in Wild Rose Cemetery at a later date.
