James L. Miller

James “Jim” L. Miller, 80, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Jim was born September 6, 1944, to Oscar and Dorothy (Harris) Miller.

Jim graduated from Minot High School in 1963. In 1964 he married Ann Mackley and together they had two children, Troy and Karla. Throughout the years, he had the pleasure of working in various states before relocating to Williston in 1979. In 1993, he made the decision to settle in Moorhead, where he has lived ever since with Marlys Turnbull.

Jim had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, especially when he could share those experiences with friends and family. He also found great joy in tending to his garden, where he spent many peaceful hours.

A devoted supporter of the Bison, Jim was also a loyal fan of the Vikings, the Twins, and racing. His enthusiasm, warmth, and love for life touched everyone who knew him.

He will be deeply missed.

Jim is survived by his spouse, Marlys Turnbull; children, Troy (Karla) Miller, Karla (Jamie) Detert; step-children, Holly (Kevin) Turnbull, Trevor (Tiffany) Turnbull; grandchildren, Casey (Tonya), Ashley (Tim), Linzee (Roger), Courtney (Austin), Cooper, Justin, Madison, Caylee, Alex, Harland, Jordyn and Ty; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and brother, Roy Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dorothy; his brother, Tom; and sister, Kayleen.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at his home in Moorhead.
