Jason C. Houseman

June 21, 1972 — March 6, 2021

Jason Carl Houseman died peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021. He had been receiving care from Sanford Fargo Hospice since February 25th. Jason was born on June 21st, 1972 in Fargo, ND and was a summer solstice child all his life through.  He was born to Jim and Donna Houseman and was raised in Moorhead. He graduated in 1990 from Moorhead High School.  Jason was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Moorhead.  He was involved in athletics and sports team as a young boy and throughout high school and was thought by many to excel at any sport he tried.

Jason attended University of Minnesota-Crookston and Ridgewater College.  He worked for Fargo Housing Authority for many years as well as Prairie St. Johns in Fargo.  In 2006, he married Paula Erdman and loved her family as though it were his own.

Jason’s playful spirit stayed with him his entire life and because of it, he was fun to be around. He loved camping and other outdoor adventures, and he loved spending time at the family cabin at Turtle Lake.  One of his favorite things to do, besides being in a boat, was to sit around a campfire with friends and family. Jason was very generous – he especially loved making sure others were having a good time, often buying tubes and other water gear for his nephews and nieces.

He and Paula took care of his mom as she battled cancer during the last year of her life, something his family is forever grateful for. He also loved to cook for others, often trying new things and sharing, even up to the last days in the hospital offering pizza and chicken wings for himself and the hospital crew.  “Come on up to my room around 5:00, dinner’s on me!”  When Jason was admitted to hospice care, a large group of hospital staff, including nurses, doctors, aides and cleaning crew, came to his bedside to wish him a good journey.

Jason loved his pups, Carter, Parker, Doug and Buddy – wherever he went, they went too.

Jason will join his mother and father and his grandparents in heaven.

He will be greatly missed by his sister Barb (Marv); his brothers Jeff (Lori) and Jim; his “brother” Troy; his nephews and nieces, Jake (Sarah), Pete (Lindsay), Brynn (Brian), Katie, Ryan, Ben and Anna; four great-nieces; and his aunt, Donna Houseman.  He will also be missed by many dear friends, cousins, and his dog, Buddy.

A family celebration of his life will be held this summer.

May his beautiful soul rest in peace.
