Jean D. Oberg, 98, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Serenity Assisted Living, Dilworth, MN.

Jean was born August 20, 1927, in Fargo, ND to Henning and Isabelle Ecklund and was raised on a farm near Harwood, ND. She attended elementary school in Fargo and graduated from Central High School in 1945. She then attended Interstate Business College in Fargo.

Jean married Vernon Oberg on June 22, 1951, in Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo. They made their home in Kragnes, MN, north of Moorhead, and raised a daughter and two sons. Jean worked at N.S.P. for six years before stepping away to raise her family. She later went to work at Therm Air Sales Corp in Fargo in 1968 and spent the next 27 years there before retiring in 1994. Jean then went to work as a care giver for elderly people at Homewatch Inc. and later for Tami’s Angels in Fargo until 2015.

She was an active and longtime member of North Buffalo Lutheran Church near Kragnes. She loved her church, children, and grandchildren and loved cooking, baking, and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (Ralph) Krabbenhoft, Moorhead, MN, two sons, Barry (Evonne Grismer), Glyndon, MN, and Bruce, Cormorant, MN; grandchildren, Lisa (Randy) McFarland, Junell (Thersia Neigum) Krabbenhoft, Angela (David) Dufault, Ryan (Jessica) Krabbenhoft, Jared (Emily) Oberg, Carolyn Oberg, Whitney Oberg, Rachel (Colby) Hardin and Nick (Taylor) Oberg; and great-grandchildren, Emma McFarland, Zachary McFarland, Aiden Dufault, Ava Dufault, Aubrey Dufault, Charlotte Oberg, Briggs Oberg and Cohen Hardin.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon, who passed away in 2005; sisters, Ruth Ford, and Joyce Jacobson; brother, Darwin Ecklund; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at North Buffalo Lutheran Church, Kragnes, MN.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to HIA Hospice or the “North Buffalo Cemetery Association”.
