Jeanette Ethel Hoyme

Jeanette Ethel (Kurtz) Hoyme, 91, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Bethany on University, Fargo, ND.

Jeanette was born on October 6, 1933, to Pearl (Seckerson) and Harold Kurtz in Jamestown, ND. She was confirmed and baptized in the First Congregational Church in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School.

Jeanette worked for Dr. E.G. Starr and Jamestown College in Jamestown before moving to Grand Forks, where she worked for the Pine Prairie Girl Scout Council. In the F-M area, she worked for the Industrial Builders Construction, Butlers Company, Metropolitan Insurance Agency, and the Moorhead Herbergers store and retired in 2009 at the age of 76.

Jeanette was a 4-H member for ten years and an assistant leader of many more, was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir, and was a women’s seamstress, making her own clothes and making quilts with team members of the Comstock Church. She did cross stitch, crochet, tatting, hardanger embroidery, Scherenschnitte cutting, and was a life member of the VFW. She bowled on a team at the Bowler in Fargo and with her sister on a team in West Fargo.

Jeanette is survived by a sister, Jean (Elroy) Ackerman, West Fargo, ND; brother, Jerald (Fran) Kurtz, Jamestown, ND; brother-in-law, Merle Weatherly, Jamestown, ND; special sister-in-law, Deborah (Curtis) Hoyme; Godson, Bryan (Dawn) Hust; nieces and caregivers, Jeanne (Brian) Laughlin and Julie (Chris) Kenyon; nieces and nephews, Brent (Patty) Weatherly, Troy Weatherly, Stacy (Brian) Hardy, Sheri (Adriaan) Smite, Lance Wescom; and several great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, JoAn Weatherly, nieces, Myla Wescom and Brenda Weatherly.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Jeanette’s webpage. Final resting place will be at Comstock Cemetery.
