Joann Lorraine (Stenberg) Dahl, 86, of Dilworth, MN, went home to her precious Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from her home in Dilworth, surrounded by her loving family.
Joann was born on March 15, 1936, during a raging blizzard at her grandparents, Martin and Mattie Melberg’s home in Ada, MN. She was the oldest of 5 children, born to Joseph and Lenora (Melberg) Stenberg and raised on the family farm in rural Ada. She attended 1st grade at Lake Ida Country School until its closing, continuing her education from the 2nd grade on in Ada. She was Baptized, Confirmed, and married at First Lutheran Church, now Grace Lutheran Church. During school vacations, she worked at Slats Ice Cream Parlor, where she met her future husband, Kenneth Dahl. She graduated from high school in 1954.
Joann married Kenny Dahl in 1955 and they began farming near Felton, MN. It was here where they began and raised their family of three sons, Brad, Randy, and Jeff. Over the years they also hosted agricultural students from various countries during the farm season.
Joann kept busy working on the farm, being active with her kid’s school activities and sports, being active in her church, working positions in local politics, and by being a member of the rural Clay County Planning Commission. She found the time to work as a sales consultant, performed security, and even worked at a printing company. In 2002, Joann and Ken built a new home in Dilworth, MN, where they have lived ever since.
Joann’s life was anchored in faith and her love for her Lord and her family.
Joann is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Ken Dahl; children, Brad (Jennifer) Dahl, Randy Dahl, and Jeff (Mary Jo) Dahl; grandchildren, Tyler (Caitlin) Dahl, Jeran (Adriana) Dahl, Sawyer Dahl, Nikki (Nick Carlson) Dahl, Christina (Mike) Hara, McKinley (Katie) Dahl, Linnea (Chandler) McCosh, and Chelsey (Adam) Sperle; great-grandchildren, Ella, Carter, Ryker, Jack, Penny, Natalia, Piper, Dax, Gatlin, and Clara Hope; sisters, Diane (Harvey) Dahl, Marilyn (Mark) Erickson, and Kathy (Ted) Torkildson; sister-in-law, Shirley Stenberg; and many other loving relatives and friends.
