Joseph “Joe” Edward Swartz, 75, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Sanford Health Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Joe was born on January 8, 1948, to Frank and Mary (Boura) Swartz, in Lankin, ND. He grew up in Grafton, ND, before moving to Fargo, ND, at the age of 20 to start his family. He was a truck driver for most of his life, starting at Crane Johnson Lumber Company in 1976 where he worked until his passing.
Joe enjoyed fixing old vehicles and then selling them to friends and family. He was very self-sufficient, independent, and loved doing things for himself. He enjoyed wintering in Arizona and loved spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his children, Joe (Becky) Swartz, Travis Swartz, and Kimberly Larson, Keith (Pam) Larson, Dean Larson, and Jon (Christina) Gensler; grandchildren, Megan (Kelly David) Swartz, Savannah (Michael) Christl, and Elizabeth (Brandon) Fitterer; great-grandchildren, Kasen David, Mikanna and Aaron Christl, and Aunya, Mylo, Jeanette, and Rodney Fitterer; siblings, Irene Dearing, Ethel Wolfgram, and Leanord (Shirley) Swartz; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette; son, Shannon Swartz; parents, Frank and Mary; siblings, Francis Meisel and Frank (Liz) Swartz; best friend, Leon Nicholson; and Lovetta Kearney.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
