John J. Wendt, 55 of Fargo, ND passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Essentia Health, Fargo.
John James Wendt was born June 3, 1967, in Fargo, ND to Dennis and Grace (Hancock) Wendt. He grew up in Felton, MN and graduated from Glyndon High School in 1985. John worked with the volunteer fire department as an EMT. He also drove railroad crews around the area for a few years before going to Rasmussen Business School for two years. John spent the last 25 years working in concrete and asphalt construction.
John stayed busy and never let the grass grow beneath his feet. He had many farmer friends and loved the harvest season. Anytime a friend needed help in the fields, John was there. He never asked for anything in return and always put others first. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. John was also a great dancer, and many people were surprised to see such a large man seemingly float across the dance floor. He had a great sense of humor and loved to be around children. He was known by many of those children as “Uncle Buck”, a nickname he took pride in.
John is survived by his mother, Grace; brothers, Michael, Steve (Melissa), Dennis (Kelli Powell); nieces, Mariah, Summer, Dakota, Leanna; nephew, Ryan; several aunts and uncles, and significant other, Lori Dennis
He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis, and grandparents, Louis and Mildred Wendt and Robert and Anna Hancock.
