Joseph (Joey) A. Lorentz of Rosemount, MN passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his home. Joey was born on August 25,1978 in Moorhead, MN to Elizabeth Olsgaard and Mark Lorentz. Joey grew up in Moorhead and had a passion for wrestling, skateboarding, home & auto sound systems and the lakes of MN. Joey graduated from Moorhead High School in 1998. After High School Joey pursued his passion of sound systems while working at Best Buy. In 2000 Joey was in a diving accident and suffered an injury that left him a quadriplegic. Being in a wheelchair didn't hold Joey back from living his life to the fullest. In 2003 Joey and Jennifer Hotakainen married. They moved to Rosemount, MN and on August 4, 2005, his daughter Mercedes M. Lorentz was born.

Joey enjoyed spending his time at Round Lake, going to Vikings games, gardening, cooking, playing cribbage and bonfires with his neighbors. With his dog Tigger, always by his side, ready for any adventure. Most importantly he loved his family and friends deeply, and watching Mercedes grow into the amazing person she is today.

He survived by his daughter Mercedes Lorentz, father Mark Lorentz, sister Katy Lorentz (Louis Paquin), brother Cole Lorentz, niece Kylie (Jesse) Groettum, nephews Kalob, Riley & Hank Paquin, grandmothers Eldora Lorentz and Mary Olsgaard. He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Olsgaard, and grandfathers Lyle Lorentz & Charles Olsgaard.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
